How To Travel The World More

Hey everyone. It’s Alexander Seery, founder of Shift to Success, helping police officers break out, make the change, and life their lives!

Today I want to share a mindset shift with you, that will help you travel and see the world more. But before I begin, if you’re looking for some kind of special discount code, or voucher, or some sneaky loophole in the system, then stop this video right now. Go back to what you’re doing, because this video is not about that.

Recently I went to Rome, Italy. It’s an absolutely gorgeous city. Whilst I was there, I thought of the wrong think mistake that the majority of people make when it comes to taking holidays. Now when I say the majority in this instance, to be blunt, I’m talking about people who are not successful. I don’t want to beat around the bush and give you a load of bullshit because my job is to help shift your mindset in business and entrepreneurship so you too can become successful and I’m not going to do that if I just beat around the bush.

Anyways, the majority of people will go away on holiday to escape their reality. Whether that is to escape their stresses from their job, their boss, their shift work, or just to unwind and this is of course if their annual leave gets accepted in the first place, but that’s for another video. Holidays should never be an escape from reality. Successful people know this. Yet the majority of people get into a cycle of going away on a mediocre holiday each year. When that holiday comes to an end, they are back to their reality, which is a time draining job they dislike, a shitty wage, and the stress that comes with it. They escape for one or two weeks, and arrive back in a worse financial condition, which only prompts them continuing the cycle, as now they have to earn more money from their jobs.

Holidays should never be an escape from your reality and successful people know this. Yet the majority of people get into a cycle of going away on a mediocre holiday each year and when that holiday comes to an end, they are back to their reality, which is a time draining job they dislike a shitty wage and the stress that comes with it. They escape for one or two weeks and arrive back in a worse financial condition, which only prompts them continuing the cycle, as now they have to earn more money from their jobs.

Look, I get holidays are great. They can be a great source of inspiration and relaxation. But why not build a life where you don’t need to escape your reality. Some people forget from 2013 to 2016, I didn’t go away on a holiday once. Instead, I built up my business, resigned from the police force, and now I don’t need to escape my reality. I delayed my gratification for going away on holiday for a short period of my life, for the longterm vision I had of myself, which was freedom in becoming my own boss.

Now I have the freedom to travel where I want, when I want, as much as I want, as a byproduct and reward of my success. Not because I need to escape my reality, because now I don’t have stress from a job. I don’t have to clock on shift. I don’t get treated badly and I don’t get paid a wage that makes me feel like crap.

Now I would encourage you to have a good think about your previous holidays. Think about how much they cost in total each time you go. How much time do you spend away on holidays each year? Because those resources, money and time, could be spent way more wisely to build your own lifestyle business, so that you don’t need to escape your reality either, and get to travel where you want when you want, and as much as you want.

If you really want to become successful in becoming your own boss, delay your gratification in going away on holiday, for a brief period and start building a life where you have the ultimate freedom, which doesn’t require an escape. That will also mean you get to travel a lot, lot more!

Now, if you’re a serving or ex-police officer, thinking about going into business one day, then go and take the police officer’s scorecard quiz to find out if becoming your own boss is something you should consider, by clicking the link in the description.
